Joann Mau
In 1971, Joann co-founded Mau Realty, which has become a cornerstone of the local real estate market. Her dedication and expertise were recognized when she was named Realtor of the Year, an accolade that highlights her commitment to excellence in the industry. Joann also became one of the first women certified as an appraiser for the state, as well as for the Veterans Affairs (VA) department, breaking barriers for women in real estate.
Community Involvement
Joann has always been actively engaged in her community. She has served on the Board of Directors for local real estate organizations and has held a position on the school board for Xavier Schools. Her commitment to education and youth development is further demonstrated through her involvement with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.
In addition to her roles in education and youth programs, Joann was hired by the Outagamie County courts to serve on the eminent domain committee, where she contributed her expertise in real estate matters to help guide important legal decisions.
Innovation in Real Estate
Joann was also a founding member of the group that created the online Multiple Listing Service (MLS), significantly modernizing how real estate transactions were conducted in the area. This innovation has greatly improved accessibility for both buyers and sellers in the market.
Personal Life
Beyond her professional achievements, Joann is a dedicated family woman, having raised five children. She enjoys spending quality time with her husband and partner, John R. Mau, and they share a passion for traveling together. In her leisure time, Joann is an avid golfer, often seen enjoying the greens at Fox Valley Golf Course.

Cindy Darling

Cindy is a former English teacher in Kaukauna, working in the district for ten years after receiving a teaching degree in her early 30s. She has two additional Bachelor degrees, in English Literature and Art, from the University of Minnesota and the University of Wisconsin—Milwaukee, respectively. She lives in Kaukauna with her partner, Todd, and their three cats — Zoe, Dippy and Lucy.

I am a third-generation real estate professional, with my family’s legacy deeply rooted in residential sales and rentals. I hold a Certified Residential Appraiser license (since 2022) and a Real Estate Salesperson License (since 2020).
I earned my bachelor’s degree in business from Edgewood College and my MBA from the University of Iowa, which allows me to bring a well-rounded perspective to every transaction.
When I’m not helping clients with their real estate needs, I enjoy spending time with my husband and children, gardening, reading, traveling, and boating during the summer months. John Mau, along with his wife Joann, created Mau Realty in 1971. Over the years, John has served the Fox River Valley in a multitude of ways. His commitment to the Fox River Valley extends beyond the many professional roles he has held over the years. He has been active in the community and willing to lend a helping hand in many different ways, which reflects his dedication to improving the lives of those around him.
When looking at John’s accomplishments over the years, one quickly discerns this is an accomplished and impressive individual. His professional background is immense from being a certified real estate appraiser to a top builder in the Fox Valley to State Director for the Wisconsin Homebuilder’s Association to Chairman of Wisconsin Realtor’s Associations, Governmental Affairs Committee, to President of Kaukauna Kiwanis, to a long-term member of the Kaukauna School Board, and the myriad ways in between.
John’s extensive background in real estate, coupled with his active participation in community service, illustrates a well-rounded individual who has significantly impacted the Fox River Valley. His contributions not only enhance the local real estate landscape but also foster community growth and development. Tracy Carpenter

My job within the team is to process payments and invoices, collect revenue, and reconcile accounts. More importantly, I manage the overall operations of our office to ensure our customers’ needs and those of the team are addressed and resolved. I am proud to have served the people of our Fox Valley community through customer service and operations management, and my volunteer activities. My interests include biking, traveling and volunteering.
